Airship Adds On-Device AI and Warehouse Integrations for Mobile Personalization

Airship has introduced new capabilities designed to combine customer profile data with live in-app context to personalize mobile experiences as they happen. The announcement, made Oct. 27, 2026, centers on on-device decisioning, direct access to data warehouses without copying data, and tools for using current information in customer messages and journeys.

The company says its Decisioning AI evaluates contextual logic locally when an app screen loads. Signals can include the screen a customer is viewing, cart status and in-app behavior. By selecting an experience on the device rather than waiting for a server response, Airship says the approach can reduce latency and cloud compute requirements while keeping customer data on the device.

Connecting profile data with live context

The capabilities are intended to bring together information brands already hold about a customer and signals that describe what is happening during an active app session. Airship’s zero-copy integrations read profile data directly from leading data warehouses, rather than requiring organizations to duplicate that information in another system. The company positions this approach as a way to make existing data available to personalization while limiting unnecessary movement of customer records.

Airship also says external data feeds can bring changing information, such as weather or store inventory, into messages at render time. That matters for experiences where a static profile alone may not capture what is relevant at the moment a customer opens a screen. The announcement does not name the warehouse providers or detail the scope of the integrations.

Other capabilities focus on how brands act on those signals. Data Branching can route customers into different journey paths based on real-time, on-device context, which Airship says can be done without developer resources. Automated triggers can initiate actions such as helping a shopper complete an abandoned cart. The company also describes real-time behavioral data streams that send insights back to a brand’s warehouse in open Parquet format for analysis.

Enterprise controls and business outcomes

Airship said the features are covered by its ISO 42001 certification, the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems. The company describes the certification and its security controls as support for privacy-by-design deployment and enterprise governance. The announcement does not provide independent performance results for the new capabilities or quantify their expected effect on conversion, retention or revenue.

CEO Brett Caine framed the launch as an extension of Airship’s mobile experience work, saying the company aims to link warehouse information and on-device decisioning to business outcomes. CTO Mike Herrick said that making the decision within the app avoids the wait associated with a cloud-based decision at the moment a screen loads. Airship also referenced its Airship Results Guarantee, though the announcement did not outline the guarantee’s terms.

The product direction addresses a familiar challenge for personalization teams: customer profiles and real-time behavior often sit in separate systems, while response time matters in mobile interactions. Airship’s proposed model assigns distinct roles to those inputs: warehouse data provides customer context, app activity supplies live signals, and local decisioning selects an experience. How this architecture performs across different app environments and enterprise data setups will depend on implementation details not specified in the announcement.

London demonstrations planned for November

Airship plans to demonstrate the capabilities at Elevate’26 in London on Nov. 4–5, where it is the lead sponsor. Caine is scheduled to open the summit. Herrick will join David LoPresti, U-Haul’s director of mobile experience, for a demonstration of on-device AI in production.

LoPresti said U-Haul is using on-device AI alongside models it is building to add nuance beyond broad customer segments. The event program is also set to include sessions on AI and personalization with participants from Gartner, Vodafone, Air France, One Football, BBC, M6, DAZN, Musgrave and The Very Group.

For marketers and mobile product teams, the announcement offers a platform-level approach to making personalization decisions closer to the customer interaction. Its practical value will hinge on how easily brands can connect warehouse data, configure relevant signals and establish governance for decisions made within their apps.
